Chromatic GBS
Streptococcus agalactiae [GBS] is the main cause of infection in newborn of industrialized countries. The risk of infection arises in pregnant women with a vaginal colonization by GBS.
Chromatic GBS is a chromogenic medium used for the isolation and differentiation of Streptococcus agalactiae from clinical specimens such as vaginal secretion, urine, gastric fluid.
Inoculate the medium by direct streaking or spread plating after enrichment in appropriate media. Incubate aerobically at 35 ± 2°C for 18-24 hours. After incubation observe the color and the morphology of the colonies.
